“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns.” Philippians 4:6 (MSG)

The privilege we have as children of God is that we can turn everything to Him in prayers. This verse holds the key to so many things, including our joy. Information will come your way that may appear threatening, things will develop around you that may cause panic; but if you learn to shape them into prayers, you will be a happy soul. In the last couple of days, we have made it clear that problems are a part of this fallen world. All you need to face one challenge or the other is to be born into the world. This does not make life impossible. Life is indeed possible with God. Life can still hold tremendous value, enriching, and fulfilling if we handle it with God.

Prayer is God’s prescription for our woes. James said,  Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray” (James 5:13). The temptation to complain, grow cold and bitter is there when there are difficulties; but that is not God’s way of going about it. We are to pray! Jesus showed us an example in this. When He was faced with the agony of the impending Cross, He prayed. As a matter of fact the Bible says He prayed more earnestly. The more the challenge we are confronting, the more we should be fervent in prayer. Given the fact that we said everybody have their load of care, prayer should have been one of the most ardent of spiritual exercises people engage in. Unfortunately, this is not often the case. We are to borrow a leaf from the Master to turn everything to God through prayer. We are sure to have a double effect as we pray: not only are we going to get solutions to problems, but the very exercise ends up maturing us in faith.

PRAYER: Holy Spirit, help me to turn every problem to an opportunity to commune with heaven.
