APPLICATION OF FAITH -1

“When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.” Mark 5:27-28

Coming to God without a measure of persuasion of His person and ability is like tempting Him. The book of Hebrews says it well – “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” “Hebrews 11:6). The miracle enjoyed by the woman in our text hinged on persuasion. Let us first examine her predicaments. She had blood flow for 12 years with all its inconveniences. She also had spent her entire earning on doctors. That means her condition no longer provided for opportunity to make money. Compound that with the effect that could have had on her marital life and the social stigma associated with the situation, then you will pardon her desperation to touch Jesus. When she heard about the power of the Lord, she believed and came; not to try, but to receive.

A lot of people do not benefit from God’s house because they put God in the same class as other people they have tried for help. They come to try, not as unto the living God who is able to do all things. This woman settled it in her heart that if only she could get to touch the helm of His garment, she would be free of the plague. She got what she said and believed for in her heart. The same rule applies to us today in applying faith. Settle it in your heart that God is able; then He will come through for you.
